Frost & Sullivan defines identity and access management (IAM) as a framework that controls and manages identities and access (human and non-human) as well as policies across IT infrastructures to protect enterprises from unauthorized and potentially harmful security breaches. Solutions include, but are not limited to, single sign-on, multifactor authentication, lifecycle management (provisioning, de-provisioning), password management, and compliance management.

IAM remains one of the highest priorities for all enterprises. Challenges are accentuated by constant changes in regulations, rules, new threats, and the lack of resources. Recent geopolitical events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russo-Ukrainian War have further exacerbated cybersecurity complexity and attacks. Enterprises struggle to maintain a robust IAM security profile in view of high complexity, silos, multiple stakeholders, and lack of compatibility among systems.
