Neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) are focusing on enhancing neonatal comfort and sleep quality, and decreasing light and sound stimulation, among others. Neonatal care devices are being updated to provide family centric and complete developmental care for the neonates. Device vendors are including features such as wireless capabilities and portability, which in turn are giving new direction to classical neonatal devices.NICUs are adopting devices that enhance family bonding, breastfeeding and kangaroo mother care. Additionally, live streaming cameras are incorporated into NICUs for reduction of stress and anxiety among neonatal parents and family. Thus, neonatal care devices offering family centric care and reducing neonatal stress will be largely adopted in the near future.

The COVID- 19 pandemic resulted in severe shortage of resources, including NICU staff. Additionally, the pressure to reduce healthcare costs and provide value-based care is increasing. Neonatal care devices with AI-based automation and predictive monitoring technologies are estimated to drive the market potential in the next decade.
